This $12 million comprehensive modernization program delivered Bond County’s Master Plan and vision, addressing immediate needs and strategic initiatives so they are prepared for the future.
Bond County Community Unit School District #2 selected GRP|WEGMAN to help them address their Master Plan of keeping "Safe and Equitable Education for All Students, Staff, and the Community." We were thrilled to serve as construction manager - and as architect and engineer for large scopes of the project - to bring their vision to reality for students, staff, and the Bond County community.
One of the centerpiece projects in our strategic plan for the district was a $4.3 million gymnasium addition where we served as construction manager, architect, and engineer. This allows for an additional gymnasium for all students to us both during school and after school activities, as well as expanding their cafeteria and adding ADA Restrooms.
GRP|WEGMAN transformed a veterinarian building into an Early Childhood Center, meeting State/Federal requirements. We renovated the space and completed a full roofing replacement, comprehensive window replacement, LED lighting retrofit, new flooring installation, HVAC system upgrades, new sidewalk networks, and expanded parking lot construction.
We delivered strategic additions to the elementary school, building an administrative building completed in 2023, creating modern office spaces including expanded principal's office suite, new counselor offices designed for student services, and enhanced administrative areas. A new library was also constructed that enables ADA access. This was a key component for the strategic planning in keeping a safe and secure learning environment.
GRP|WEGMAN executed a comprehensive renovation of Pocahontas Elementary School, encompassing demolition, asbestos abatement, and classroom reconstruction featuring upgraded flooring, ceiling systems, and LED lighting technology. The project included replacement of nearly all HVAC infrastructure, complete roofing systems, and installation of code-compliant gymnasium bleachers. This $2.35 million initiative aligned with the community's strategic long-term development plan.
GRP|WEGMAN performed HVAC replacement and control upgrades District-wide including new high-efficiency HVAC units, new central heating and cooling plants, as well as a control system to monitor usage to optimize energy consumption.
"Bond County CUSD #2 Administration, Board of Education, Community and Families decided to take action on our vision of a “Safe and Equitable education for all our students, staff, and the community.
By partnering with GRP|WEGMAN, we turned our vision into reality. Through decisive implementation, strategic planning, and execution, we improved the student experience. It’s been a great partnership for the past 13 years."
From a new state-of-the-art gymnasium and transformed Early Childhood Center to comprehensive building renovations and district-wide infrastructure upgrades, this multi-phase project has revolutionized the learning environment for Bond County students.
