Signs Your Furnace Needs Help

Most furnaces give a warning before they quit. Catch it early and the fix is usually simpler.

Blowing Cold Air

The heat is on but the vents feel cool. Often an ignition, sensor, or thermostat issue.

Weak Airflow

Some rooms stay chilly while others are fine. A clogged filter or worn blower is a common cause.

Strange Noises

Banging, squealing, or rattling usually means a part is wearing out.

Turning On and Off

Short cycling wastes gas and wears out parts faster.

Rising Energy Bills

If your gas bill climbs and your habits haven’t changed, your furnace is working too hard.

Ignition Trouble

A furnace that clicks but won’t light, or a burner flame that looks yellow instead of blue, needs a look.

Repair or Replace?

A well-kept gas furnace usually lasts 15 to 20 years. Here’s how to think about your next step.

Repair Usually Makes Sense When...

  • Your furnace is under 15 years old
  • The fix is a single part or a small repair
  • It’s been reliable up to now
  • Your home heats evenly

Replacement Is Usually Worth It When...

  • Your furnace is 15 to 20 years old or more
  • You’re calling for repairs every winter
  • There’s a cracked heat exchanger
  • Gas bills keep rising or some rooms never warm up

The $5,000 Rule

Multiply your system's age by the repair cost. If the total is over $5,000, replacement is usually the smarter investment. For example, a 12-year-old system with a $500 repair comes to $6,000, so it's worth looking at a new system.

Common Furnace
Questions

Still have a question?
Call 618-258-9000, 24/7.

How often should my Furnace be serviced?

Once a year, ideally in the fall before you need heat. A tune-up catches worn parts early, keeps your furnace running efficiently, and lets us check for safety issues. At Home Club members get a fall tune-up every year.

How long does a furnace last?

Most gas furnaces last 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance. If yours is in that range and needing more repairs, it may be time to weigh replacement.

Do you offer emergency Furnace repair?

Yes. Call 618-258-9000 anytime, 24/7. If your heat goes out on a cold night, call rather than using the form so we can get to you sooner.

How much does Furnace repair cost?

It depends on what’s wrong. We use flat-rate pricing, so you’ll know the price before any work starts. No surprises on the bill.

How often should I change my furnace filter?

Every 1 to 3 months for a standard 1-inch filter, more often with pets or during heavy use. Thicker media filters can last longer. A clogged filter is one of the most common causes of weak airflow.

What brands do you work on?

We service and repair all major makes and models of furnaces, so you don't need to know your brand before you call. Our technician will take a look and walk you through your options.

Do you offer financing on new systems?

Yes. Financing is available on new heating and cooling systems, so you can get the comfort you need now and pay over time. Call 618-258-9000 or request service, and our team will walk you through the details.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave your home right away and call your gas company from outside. Don’t flip switches or use anything that could spark. Once it’s safe, call us and we’ll take care of the furnace.
